Since 1977, the Four Wheel Drive Association of BC (4WDABC) has been championing Public Access to Public Land. A persistent challenge for off-roaders is dealing with gates: some are legal and necessary, while others are questionable—installed or locked without authority, or no longer serving their purpose.
That’s where RECON comes in. Originally called GateBuddy, RECON empowers 4WD enthusiasts to crowdsource critical data about gates and other trail restrictions. With RECON, you can:
• *Report obstacles:* Flag gates, rockslides, manned gatehouses, and other access issues.
• *Track updates:* Receive prompts to update gate statuses in real-time (e.g., open, locked, unlocked).
